Production Update on the Highlander Reboot
The highly anticipated Henry Cavill Highlander reboot is currently filming in Scotland, with Cavill set to portray the iconic character Connor MacLeod. Directed by Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick series, the film aims to revive the beloved franchise that first captivated audiences in 1986.
The reboot features a star-studded cast, including Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Marisa Abela, Max Zhang, Jeremy Irons, and Dave Bautista, who will take on the role of the main villain. The film follows Connor MacLeod as he confronts his past and rediscovers his purpose.
The original Highlander film introduced audiences to MacLeod, who discovers he is one of several immortal warriors. The franchise has since expanded to include sequels, spin-offs, novels, comics, and video games, maintaining a dedicated fan base over the decades.
In addition to the film, the original script of Highlander is being adapted into a comic book titled ‘Highlander: The Original Screenplay’, which is set to be released on November 17, 2026. This adaptation promises to offer fans a new perspective on the classic story.
While the Highlander reboot is currently in production, it does not yet have an official release date. The anticipation surrounding the project continues to grow, with fans eager to see how this new interpretation will honor the original film.
Jonathan Wilkins, involved in the comic adaptation, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “For the first time, readers will be able to experience this epic adventure set across the centuries.” He further noted, “It’s been a genuine thrill to work with Gregory to discover the various avenues his story explored before filming began.”
As filming progresses, details remain unconfirmed regarding specific plot elements and additional casting announcements. However, the collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and the talented cast and crew has generated significant interest in the reboot.
With a blend of nostalgia and fresh storytelling, the Henry Cavill Highlander reboot aims to capture both old fans and new audiences alike, promising an exciting addition to the franchise’s legacy.
