SSC CGL 2025 Post Preference Window Opens

On March 9, 2026, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) opened the post preference window for the SSC CGL 2025 examination. This crucial step allows candidates to select their preferred posts from a total of 15,130 vacancies announced for the recruitment cycle.

The post preference window will remain active until March 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM. Candidates are encouraged to log in to the official SSC website at www.ssc.gov.in to submit their preferences. It is important to note that candidates who do not submit their post preference will not be considered for final selection.

To ensure their inclusion in the final merit list, candidates must submit their preferred posts. The final allotment will be made on a merit-cum-preference basis, meaning that both the candidates’ scores and their chosen posts will be taken into account.

During this period, candidates have the flexibility to change their preferences multiple times before the deadline. This feature allows them to reassess their options based on their performance and the available vacancies.

For candidates belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category, it is essential to choose posts that are suitable for their specific disabilities. Additionally, candidates must meet the physical and medical standards required for the posts they select.

The SSC CGL 2025 examination process began with the Tier-I examination, the results of which were declared on December 18, 2025. Following this, the Tier-II examination was conducted from January 18 to January 20, 2026.

Among the total vacancies, there are 6,464 positions available for the Unreserved Category (General Category), 3,834 for the OBC Category, 2,223 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 1,134 for Scheduled Tribes, and 1,475 for the Minority Category.

The minimum age limit for most positions is set at 18 years, while the maximum age limit is 27 years. These age criteria are critical for candidates to consider when applying for their preferred posts.

The opening of the post preference window is a significant milestone in the SSC CGL 2025 recruitment process, as it directly impacts candidates’ chances of securing their desired positions within the government sector.

As the deadline approaches, candidates are advised to carefully evaluate their options and make informed decisions regarding their post preferences.
