Xiaomi 17 Ultra Launches in India

Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 17 Series in India, unveiling two flagship smartphones — the Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is positioned as a premium offering, featuring a 6.9 inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and an impressive 3,500 nits peak brightness.

Weighing in at 218.4 grams, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra boasts an IP68 rating, ensuring protection against dust and moisture. It is powered by a robust 6,000 mAh battery, supporting 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities, making it a strong contender in the flagship market.

In terms of photography, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a sophisticated camera system, including a 1-inch LOFIC main camera sensor, a 50 MP main camera, a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50 MP ultrawide lens. Sandeep Singh Arora noted, “Xiaomi 17 delivers a well-rounded flagship experience in a compact form factor, while Xiaomi 17 Ultra pushes the boundaries of smartphone photography with innovations like LOFIC sensor technology and continuous optical zoom.”

The LOFIC sensor is designed to significantly increase the sensor’s full-well capacity, allowing it to preserve details across both extremes within a single image. Additionally, the Ultra model features a Leica 200MP telephoto system with 75–100mm mechanical optical zoom, enhancing its photographic capabilities.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced at ₹1,29,999, while the standard Xiaomi 17 starts at ₹89,999. Both devices will be available starting March 18, 2026, and will run on Xiaomi HyperOS 3.5 out of the box.

In a promotional effort, Xiaomi is offering a ‘Never Run Out’ promotion where the 512GB model will be priced the same as the 256GB variant during the launch period. This strategy aims to attract consumers looking for high storage options at competitive prices.

As the launch date approaches, observers are keen to see how the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will perform in the competitive smartphone market, particularly in the premium segment where camera technology is a significant differentiator. The advancements in camera capabilities and battery life are expected to resonate well with consumers.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full impact of these features on user experience, but the initial reception appears promising. Xiaomi continues to innovate, positioning itself as a leader in the smartphone industry with the introduction of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
