TVS Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter Launches in India
The launch of the TVS Orbiter V1 electric scooter on March 12, 2026, marks a significant step towards making electric mobility more accessible in India. Priced at ₹49,999 under the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, the Orbiter V1 aims to attract a broader consumer base.
Without the BaaS model, the scooter is available for ₹84,500. This pricing strategy is expected to enhance the adoption of electric scooters in a market that is witnessing rapid growth.
The Orbiter V1 is equipped with a 1.8 kWh battery, providing a certified IDC range of 86 km per charge. This range is competitive for urban commuting, addressing the concerns of potential electric scooter buyers regarding battery life.
Charging the scooter from 0 to 80% takes approximately two hours and 20 minutes, making it convenient for daily use. Additionally, the scooter features a generous 34-litre under-seat storage capacity, catering to the practical needs of commuters.
In terms of technology, the Orbiter V1 includes a coloured LCD instrument cluster and a companion mobile app for enhanced connectivity. Safety features such as alerts for crashes, falls, theft, geo-fencing, and time-fencing further enhance its appeal.
The BaaS model allows customers to subscribe to battery usage, with monthly plans starting at ₹862. This approach not only reduces the upfront cost but also provides flexibility for users.
Gaurav Gupta, President of India 2W Business at TVS Motor Company, emphasized the importance of this launch in making electric mobility more accessible. He stated, “This is an important step in making electric mobility more accessible.”
Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President heading the Commuter and EV Business, noted that customer feedback on the Orbiter V2 directly informed the decision to introduce this more entry-level option.
The launch of the Orbiter V1 comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is experiencing rapid growth, indicating a shift towards sustainable transport solutions.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the long-term impact of this model on the market, but the expectations are high as TVS Motor Company continues to innovate in the electric vehicle space.
