Jaipur has undergone a significant transformation in weather conditions as several areas experienced rainfall on March 23, shifting from warm to pleasant temperatures. This change has raised concerns about potential crop damage, prompting immediate action from local authorities.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nationwide weather alert, forecasting widespread thunderstorms, rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds across various regions. An ‘Orange Alert’ has been specifically issued for eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and parts of West Bengal due to expected severe weather conditions.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has instructed district collectors to conduct immediate surveys to assess crop damage caused by the recent heavy rainfall. “The prosperity of Rajasthan rests on the foundation of our farmer brothers and sisters. The state government stands firmly with you with complete sensitivity and responsibility,” Sharma stated.
As thunderstorms continue to impact the region, Akhil Shrivastava from the IMD noted, “A large-scale thunderstorm activity is currently being witnessed across India,” indicating that the situation may escalate further.
In Jaipur, the recent rainfall has led to a notable drop in temperatures, providing some relief from the heat. However, the rainfall activity is expected to subside starting March 24, which may lead to a return to warmer conditions.
On March 22, the highest maximum temperature recorded in Rajasthan was 35.2 degrees Celsius in Barmer, while light rain with thunderstorms was observed in parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Barmer, and Shekhawati.
As the weather system evolves, residents are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts and heed warnings from local authorities. Wind speeds in eastern India may reach 60 to 70 kmph, posing potential risks to safety and infrastructure.
Rain is anticipated to continue in the Shekhawati region on March 25, which could further complicate the situation for farmers already assessing damage from the recent storms.
