In a high-stakes move, Venkatesh Iyer has been signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for ₹7 crore during the IPL 2026 auction. This acquisition comes on the heels of Iyer’s mixed performance in IPL 2025, where he scored 142 runs at an average of 20.28.
Mo Bobat, RCB’s director of cricket, emphasized the significance of this signing, stating, “Adding a player of Venky’s quality, experience, and calibre is a no-brainer.” This sentiment reflects RCB’s strategy to bolster their squad with top talent.
Despite his below-average statistics in the previous season, Iyer’s track record includes a championship win with Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025, showcasing his potential to contribute to RCB’s success.
