hybe india — IN news

HYBE has previously dominated global charts with boy groups and girl groups before expanding into India. Now, HYBE India is launching a nationwide audition for a new girl group, marking a significant step in its strategy to localize K-pop production.

The auditions are open to girls born between 2005 and 2011 and will run from March 31 to July 31, 2026. This initiative aims to showcase ‘Harmony in Diversity’ and tell authentic stories of Indian women.

Auditions will take place in 10 cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune. The audition process invites talents in vocals, rap, dance, acting, and modeling, providing a platform for young women across the country.

Damien Woochang Lee, CEO of HYBE India, stated, “India has never lacked talent or ambition – what’s been missing is a consistent pathway to the global stage. This audition is where that process begins.” He emphasized the importance of building a systematic training and development system tailored to the local market.

The audition process will include both online submissions and in-person rounds, ensuring accessibility for all interested candidates. The campaign will be amplified through partnerships with brands like Samsung and H&M, further enhancing its reach.

Lee added, “What we are building is that bridge: a system that allows us to nurture artistes with intention, and to be seen, heard, and understood beyond borders.” This initiative is part of HYBE’s long-term commitment to the Indian market, focusing on relatable artists for young Indian women.

The decision to focus on a girl group was based on local research indicating a strong desire for such artists among the demographic. As the auditions approach, excitement is building among aspiring talents and fans alike.

With the audition process set to begin, observers are keen to see how this initiative will influence the Indian music scene and the global K-pop landscape.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific selection criteria and training programs that will follow the auditions.
