Guwahati: 4 extra individuals died of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Assam on Saturday, pushing the toll to 27 this month, in keeping with a launch issued by the Nationwide Well being Mission.
The state reported 9 new instances through the day taking the tally to 169 this month.
All 4 deaths have been reported from Jorhat district.
Three recent instances have been reported from Golaghat district, two every from Sivasagar and Sonitpur together with one every from Goalpara and Kokrajhar districts.
The state had recorded 4 deaths and 16 new JE instances on Friday.
All of the districts have shaped District Fast Response staff on Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and JE.
The Normal Working Procedures and pointers communicated by the Nationwide Well being Mission, Assam are being adopted by all of the districts for AES/JE case detection, administration and referral, an official mentioned.
