DIBRUGARH: Three Assam Rifles jawans and one civilian have been arrested by police from Jokai space of Dibrugarh city on Thursday night time whereas transporting a consignment of medicine.
Superintendent of police Shwetank Mishra on Friday stated a crew of Dibrugarh police led by extra SP Bitul Chetia intercepted the accused whereas they have been passing by means of Dibrugarh in two automobiles. They have been travelling from Dimapur to Tinsukia for a drug rendezvous and a search of their automobiles led to the restoration of 269 grams of heroin.
The arrested individuals have been recognized as Ranjit Kumar Singha of 23 Assam Rifles, Binay Kumar of 16 Assam Rifles, Junush Khan of seven Assam Rifles and a civilian, Pezslhoulie Rupreo. The 2 automobiles – Bolero AS07-L-4096 and Tata Xenon NL-11- 2673 – have been seized by the police.
A case has been registered towards them at Dibrugarh police station below sections 22(c), 27A and 29 of the Narcotic Medicine and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. “The accused have been speculated to ship the medication to an individual in Tinsukia.
