The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that from August 8, there is a possibility of heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat region, Odisha, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh for the next few days.

For August 8, the IMD has put Konkan and the states of Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Telangana on red alert. While Gujarat region, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Odisha have been put on Orange Alert.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall with very heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa and Ghat areas of Telangana.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat region and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.

Whereas at isolated places in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gangetic West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Saurashtra and Kutch, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, North Interior Karnataka Over Kerala and Mahe, heavy rainfall is likely.

Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Karnataka, Tamil With the possibility of rain. Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe.

Thunderstorm with speed reaching 50-60 kmph is very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Weather Alert for Fishermen

65 kmph gusting to 45-55 kmph along and off north-west Bay of Bengal and off Odisha & West Bengal coasts, central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal and Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Comorin region Wind speed is likely. Coast of Eastern Sri Lanka.

The wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is predicted over Andaman Sea and Lakshadweep region.

Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is also very likely over central Arabian Sea and adjoining southwest and southeast Arabian Sea.

Therefore, fishermen have been advised not to venture deep into these seas.

Very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over Odisha on 8th and 10th August and Gangetic West Bengal on 9th and 10th August.

Very heavy rain in West Madhya Pradesh on 09-11 August, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on 9 and 10 August, Chhattisgarh on 8 and 10 August, Gujarat region on 8 August, Saurashtra and Kutch on 9 and 10 August, Marathwada is likely to. on 9 August.

Very heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places over Telangana on August 8 and 9.
