Guwahati: A police officer and a income division official had been arrested in Assam on Friday in two totally different instances of corruption, officers stated.
A sub-inspector of Patharkandi Police Station in Karimganj district was caught on a hidden digital camera purportedly demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 from an individual who had gone to the police station with some official work, they stated.
The official was seen getting up from his chair and strolling off when the particular person had tried at hand him a lesser sum of money. When the particular person agreed to pay the demanded Rs 5,000, the sub-inspector returned to his desk and warranted of doing the needful, they added.
The video, which has gone viral, confirmed the sub-inspector demanding the cash as “tea and snacks bills”.

In Hojai district, an official of the income division was arrested for allegedly demanding a bribe, as per a press release.
