UPSC Releases 2025 Marksheet

In a significant development for civil service aspirants, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the marksheets of recommended candidates for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 on March 10, 2026. This announcement comes as a crucial milestone for the 958 candidates who have been recommended for appointment across various services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Details of the Examination

The UPSC CSE is conducted annually and is known for its rigorous selection process. The final merit ranking for the candidates is determined by combining their scores from the Mains Examination and the Personality Test, with a total maximum of 2025 marks. The Written Examination, which has a maximum score of 1750, and the Personality Test, with a maximum of 275 marks, are critical components of this evaluation.

Top Performer: Anuj Agnihotri

Among the candidates, Anuj Agnihotri achieved the top position, securing All India Rank 1 (AIR 1) in the UPSC CSE 2025. He scored an impressive 867 marks in the Written Examination and 204 marks in the Personality Test, bringing his total to 1071 marks. This remarkable performance sets a benchmark for future aspirants and highlights the competitive nature of the examination.

Performance Insights

The marksheet not only showcases the achievements of top candidates like Agnihotri but also provides valuable insights for aspirants looking to analyze the performance of successful candidates. Notably, top candidates scored above 820 marks in the Written Examination, while interview marks varied between 187 and 215. This data can serve as a guide for future candidates preparing for the examination.

Transparency in Recruitment

The publication of the marksheets reflects the UPSC’s commitment to transparency in its recruitment process. By making these details available, the UPSC allows candidates to understand the competitive landscape and the scoring dynamics of the examination. This transparency is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the selection process.

Optional Subjects and Preparation

Anuj Agnihotri chose Medical Science as his optional subject for the UPSC Mains examination, a decision that evidently paid off. The choice of optional subjects can significantly influence a candidate’s performance, and understanding the trends in successful candidates’ subject selections can aid future aspirants in their preparation strategies.

Reactions and Future Implications

The release of the marksheet has garnered attention from various stakeholders, including educational institutions and coaching centers, which are likely to analyze the results to refine their teaching methodologies.

Sreeja JS Achieves 57th Rank in Civil Services Exam

Sreeja JS has made a remarkable achievement by securing the 57th rank in the Civil Services Examination during her first attempt. This accomplishment is particularly significant as she aims to join the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), a prestigious career path in India.

At just 24 years old, Sreeja’s journey to this success has been shaped by her dedication and hard work. She completed her graduation and postgraduation in political science from Madras Christian College, which laid the foundation for her aspirations in civil service. Her father, Jayakumar, worked tirelessly as a daily wage labourer to support her education, while her mother, Sheeja Kumari, an MA graduate, provided essential support until Sreeja completed Class 9.

Sreeja’s initial dream was to become an IAS officer; however, her focus shifted towards the IFS as she progressed in her studies. Her preparation for the Civil Services Examination involved long hours of self-study and taking numerous mock tests. “The preparation was difficult. Sometimes you receive low marks in mock tests, and that can be discouraging. But my father always stood by me,” she shared, highlighting the emotional and financial support she received from her family.

In addition to her family, Sreeja’s success was bolstered by the encouragement of her village community, which played a vital role during her preparation. This collective support reflects the challenges faced by individuals from financially disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing higher education and civil service careers. Sreeja also managed to save 2,500 rupees for painting, showcasing her resourcefulness and determination.

As Sreeja looks ahead, she joins a lineage of distinguished individuals in the Indian Foreign Service. One notable figure is Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, who has had a 40-year diplomatic career and served as India’s ambassador to the US from February 2020 to January 2024. His extensive experience in US affairs sets a precedent for aspiring diplomats like Sreeja.

Reflecting on her achievement, Sreeja expressed, “When I got the 57th rank, it felt like I had reached the moon itself.” This statement encapsulates the emotional weight of her success and the aspirations she holds for her future in the IFS. As she embarks on this new chapter, observers are keen to see how her journey unfolds in the competitive landscape of Indian diplomacy.

While Sreeja’s immediate future seems bright, details remain unconfirmed regarding her next steps in the IFS selection process. Nevertheless, her story serves as an inspiration for many young aspirants aiming to overcome obstacles in their pursuit of civil service careers.
