Rajasthan has scheduled its summer holidays from May 17 to June 20, allowing for a span of 34 days. Meanwhile, Haryana schools will remain closed from June 1 to June 30, giving students a full month off.

Chhattisgarh has taken a more drastic approach, announcing vacations from April 20 to June 15—56 days in total. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana follow suit with holidays from April 24 to June 11, allowing for a combined break of 48 days.

Odisha’s summer holidays began on April 27, while West Bengal is already observing its break, with official end dates expected soon.

Parents express concern about the extreme temperatures. Renuka, a local parent, stated, “It has become difficult for parents to drop their children at Anganwadi schools and pick them up after half-day classes due to severe heatwaves.” Anganwadi teachers noted that many parents fear sending their children due to potential health risks.

The situation is compounded by upcoming election results—Puducherry schools will close for one day related to this event. Observers are closely monitoring how these early breaks impact children’s education and health during the intense heat.
