Internal dissent within AIADMK is escalating as a faction of MLAs considers supporting Vijay’s TVK for government formation in Tamil Nadu. Over two-thirds of AIADMK MLAs gathered at CV Shanmugam’s office early Tuesday to discuss this potential alliance.

The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections resulted in a fractured mandate. TVK emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats, while AIADMK secured only 47 seats. The majority mark stands at 118 seats in the 234-member assembly.

“If he fails to act, over 30 MLAs could break away and extend their support to Vijay,” warned unnamed AIADMK MLAs. This statement highlights the urgency of the situation.

KC Venugopal, a Congress leader, stated, “TVK President Thiru Vijay has requested the Indian National Congress for support to form a Government in Tamil Nadu.” This request indicates potential political alliances forming amidst the turmoil.

However, the Congress’s support comes with conditions. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai expressed skepticism, saying, “The perception that is out in the entire country is that Congress cannot be trusted.” This sentiment may complicate coalition talks.

The exact outcome of these discussions remains unclear. Analysts are watching closely as AIADMK navigates its internal divisions and external pressures.

The political landscape in Tamil Nadu continues to shift rapidly. The next moves from AIADMK and TVK will be critical in determining the future of governance in the state.

Tensions escalate in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape as Vijay rejected Anbumani Ramadoss’s demand for a Deputy Chief Minister post for his wife, Sowmiya. This development comes amid ongoing coalition talks following the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The Tamil Nadu Victory Alliance (TVK), led by Vijay, secured 106 seats in the recent elections but needs 12 more seats to form a majority government. Anbumani Ramadoss, leader of the PMK, requested the Deputy Chief Minister position for his wife, which Vijay has turned down.

Observers note that this rejection could complicate coalition negotiations. The TVK is currently in discussions with Congress, CPI, CPM, and VCK to solidify their government formation.

Anbumani’s PMK only won 5 seats in the elections. In response to the situation, Vijay has requested a 14-day deadline from Governor Rajendra Arlekar to prove his majority.

Key facts:

TVK needs 12 additional seats for a majority.

Anbumani Ramadoss’s PMK won 5 seats.

Vijay has asked for 14 days to prove majority.

He has written to Governor Arlekar to form the government.

The 2026 Assembly election marks a significant turning point in Tamil Nadu politics. Vijay’s leadership will be crucial as he plans to meet MLAs and the Governor soon.

Political analysts are closely monitoring these developments as they could reshape alliances within the state’s political framework.

Udhayanidhi Stalin retained his Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni Assembly constituency, defeating D. Selvam by 7,140 votes. This victory comes amid a significant defeat for the DMK, as his father, M.K. Stalin, lost his own Kolathur seat.

This marks Udhayanidhi’s second consecutive win in Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni. However, the margin was much narrower than in 2021 when he won by 69,355 votes.

The DMK faced a dramatic reduction in its seat share, plummeting from 133 seats to just 6 as of 5 PM on election day. In contrast, the TVK secured 10 seats and was leading in 99 others.

Key facts:

Udhayanidhi’s lead was confirmed after round 8 when he led by just 1,048 votes.

The Chepauk constituency has historical significance; Udhayanidhi’s grandfather, Karunanidhi, won there three times before its unification with Triplicane.

Observers expect Udhayanidhi to become the leader of opposition if the DMK remains the main opposition party.

Udhayanidhi is widely seen as the political heir of Karunanidhi and M.K. Stalin. His win contrasts sharply with the overall performance of the DMK in this election cycle.

Edappadi K. Palaniswami lost his Leader of the Opposition status after the election results on May 4, 2026, in Chennai. This marks a significant turning point for AIADMK amid ongoing electoral failures.

As of midday, AIADMK has been pushed to third place in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Palaniswami has served as Leader of the Opposition since 2021.

The party’s recent history shows troubling trends. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, AIADMK won only 1 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu. In 2021, despite winning 66 seats, they lost power.

In the 2022 local body elections, DMK achieved significant victories across Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, AIADMK faced a complete defeat, winning no seats at all.

Current projections suggest that AIADMK may win between 50 to 53 seats in the 2026 Assembly elections. However, Palaniswami is currently leading in the Edappadi constituency by over 69,000 votes.

The continuous electoral defeats have raised questions about AIADMK’s future. Senior party officials have expressed dissatisfaction with Palaniswami’s leadership decisions.

Political analysts have pointed out that these recent defeats have put Palaniswami in a political crisis. The implications for his leadership and party strategy remain uncertain.

This loss signifies a critical juncture for AIADMK as it grapples with its declining influence in Tamil Nadu politics.

In a stunning turn of events, Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has emerged as the single largest party in the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, disrupting the traditional dominance of the Dravidian parties. The elections took place on May 4, 2026, and results began to pour in early Tuesday.

Prior to this election, expectations leaned heavily towards MK Stalin’s ruling party, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Many analysts predicted another term for Stalin, who had been in power for five years.

However, TVK won a decisive 85 seats and is leading on an additional 22 seats out of a total of 234 constituencies. This represents a significant vote share of 34.72 percent, translating to approximately 1.18 crore votes.

The DMK managed to secure only 41 seats, with a vote share around 24 percent, equating to about 84 lakh votes. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) followed with 32 seats.

A key moment occurred when MK Stalin lost his Kolathur constituency to TVK candidate V S Babu by around 8,700 votes. This loss has raised questions about the DMK’s future leadership.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, MK Stalin’s son, did manage to win his Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency. He stated, “The people of Tamil Nadu have delivered their verdict, and we humbly accept it.” This reflects a shift in public sentiment.

Sivakarthikeyan congratulated Vijay on his victory, emphasizing its significance: “Congratulations to Vijay sir for achieving such a big victory and impact in his first election.” This indicates a strong endorsement from influential figures within the industry.

The results indicate a potential realignment in Tamil Nadu politics. Experts suggest that this could mark the beginning of a new era for the state.

The 2026 elections in India have seen significant upsets. The BJP is on track for a landslide victory in West Bengal. Meanwhile, a debut party led by film star Vijay is making waves in Tamil Nadu.

Before this development, expectations leaned heavily towards the Trinamool Congress retaining power in West Bengal. The BJP was considered an underdog despite its national prominence.

As of midday, the BJP has secured 72 seats in West Bengal, while the Trinamool Congress has won just 29 seats. This marks a historic shift as the BJP prepares to form its first government there since Independence.

In Tamil Nadu, the TVK party has emerged as a formidable contender. It has won 65 seats and leads on another 43 seats out of 234 constituencies. The ruling DMK trails behind with 25 seats.

The results are also noteworthy across other states. In Kerala, the United Democratic Front swept the polls with 99 seats, while the BJP bagged 73 seats out of 101 declared constituencies in Assam.

The National Democratic Alliance is set to form the next government in Puducherry with a majority of 18 seats. These results highlight a significant consolidation of power for the BJP across multiple regions.

Mamata Banerjee remains competitive, leading over her BJP rival Suvendu Adhikari in Bhabanipur. However, the overall trend indicates a dramatic shift away from traditional power structures.

This election cycle has witnessed unprecedented voter turnout as well—around 92 percent in West Bengal. Analysts suggest that these results could reshape regional politics for years to come.

The Election Commission of India will publish the first supplementary voter list today in West Bengal. This development comes amid ongoing controversies regarding voter exclusions.

Before this announcement, many anticipated that the electoral rolls would remain unchanged. The state faced significant scrutiny over pending voter records and the integrity of the SIR process.

As of early Tuesday, 27 lakh pending voter records have been settled. Approximately 2 lakh names are being processed daily.

Voters can appeal online via the ECI Net app or offline at district or sub-divisional offices if they have objections to the list. This move aims to enhance transparency and public involvement.

To facilitate this process, 19 appeal tribunals have been established across 23 districts following directives from the Supreme Court. This is expected to expedite resolutions for voters who challenge their status.

In contrast, Tamil Nadu recently published its final electoral rolls, showing a significant drop in voter count from 6.41 crore to 5.67 crore. This decline raises concerns about electoral participation in upcoming elections.

The largest constituency in Chennai district is Shozhinganallur, which has 5,36,991 electors. Meanwhile, Thiruvallur district boasts the highest number of electors at 31,57,413 voters.

On the other hand, Ariyalur district has the minimum number of electors with just 5,22,954 voters. These figures highlight regional disparities in voter registration and engagement.

Archana Patnaik stated that “anyone can check their names on the website,” emphasizing accessibility for all voters. The ECI aims to ensure that all eligible citizens can participate in the electoral process.

This initiative comes as various stakeholders continue to express concerns over election integrity and representation. The state government has issued directives to district magistrates for crowd-control measures during this period.

The implications of these developments will unfold as voters engage with the new supplementary list and appeal processes across West Bengal.

Trisha Krishnan visited Tirupati on May 4, 2026, just ahead of the Tamil Nadu election results. This visit has raised speculation regarding her relationship with Thalapathy Vijay.

The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections occurred on April 23, 2026. Results are expected to be announced today.

As of early Tuesday, Trisha has not confirmed any romantic link with Vijay. Their association has long been a topic of public interest.

Thalapathy Vijay is a prominent figure in both Tamil cinema and politics. His influence in the state remains significant.

Trisha recently starred in the film Karuppu, where she plays a lawyer named Preethi. Her absence from the film’s audio launch stirred debate among fans.

Today also marks Trisha’s 43rd birthday. She expressed surprise at receiving reminders for her birthday celebrations.

In a light-hearted comment, Trisha remarked, “I guess my invite got lost in the mail :)” regarding the audio launch event.

This sequence of events highlights the intersection of cinema and politics in Tamil Nadu. The public is keenly watching how these ties will evolve post-elections.

No official confirmation has emerged about Trisha and Vijay’s relationship status. Their interactions continue to capture media attention.

The outcome of today’s election results may further influence public perceptions surrounding both celebrities.

Tamil Nadu voted on April 23, 2026. The results for the 234 constituencies will be announced on May 4, 2026. This election features a fierce contest primarily between MK Stalin’s DMK and the AIADMK-led NDA alliance.

The entry of actor C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is expected to shake up the political landscape. His debut in the elections could introduce unexpected dynamics.

AIADMK aims to retain its influence in the western region while trying to gain ground in northern, central, and Greater Chennai areas to regain power.

Key constituencies include:

Kolathur

Perambur

Tiruchirappalli (East)

Bodinayakanur

Edappadi

Mylapore

Chepauk–Thiruvallikeni

Sriperumbudur

Sattur

C. Joseph Vijay is contesting against RD Shekar in Perambur. Meanwhile, MK Stalin faces P Santhana Krishnan in Kolathur.

Udhayanidhi Stalin is campaigning against Aadirajaram in Chepauk–Thiruvallikeni. O Panneerselvam is up against VT Narayanasamy in Bodinayakanur, while Edappadi K Palaniswami contests against Kasi C in Edappadi.

The AIADMK lost ground to the DMK-led alliance during the previous elections in 2021. Observers are closely watching how TVK’s participation may alter voting trends.
