Thakkali Srinivasan, known for his extensive work in Tamil cinema, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 72 after a prolonged illness. He began his career as a producer with the film Ivargal Varungala Thoongal in 1987, marking the start of a notable journey in the film industry.

Throughout his career, Srinivasan produced several landmark films including Manasukul Mathappu, released in 1988, and Nalaya Manithan, which came out in 1989. His work extended beyond production; he also directed and composed music for Jenma Natchathiram, a remake of the classic horror film The Omen.

In addition to his production and directing roles, he played the antagonist in the Kamal Hassan-starrer Soora Samharam. His contributions to cinema were complemented by his philanthropic efforts in later years, as he ran an ashram and lived with his adopted children.

His last directorial project was Aduthathu, inspired by Agatha Christie’s novel And Then There Were None. This film was a testament to his enduring creativity and passion for storytelling.
