During the May Day celebrations, workers made 11 demands. Among these was a call for the elimination of outsourcing practices. Puan highlighted that achieving the target of creating 19 million jobs in five years will be challenging without a solid industrial foundation.

Puan underscored that work should not cease until employees lose their jobs. She supports forming a workforce to address layoffs but insists on maintaining employment policies that protect workers.

Puan welcomed recent changes to Permenaker regarding outsourcing. However, she urged for clear limits on the types of outsourcing allowed. The income and job security of digital transport workers must not be overlooked, she stated.

Tragically, Puan also mentioned a train accident in East Bekasi. Several workers lost their lives while returning home from work. This incident further emphasizes the need for safe transportation and adequate facilities for workers’ families.

Puan affirmed that all workers deserve equal protection under the law, including domestic workers and online drivers. She stated, “May Day 2026 should be a serious pressure for the state to strengthen worker protection.” Her message resonates deeply as social pressures mount due to increasing job uncertainty.
