amritsar news — IN news

Two separate low-intensity explosions occurred near military installations in Punjab within hours of each other. The first explosion happened around 8 PM outside the BSF Headquarters in Jalandhar, followed by a second blast around 10:50 PM near an Army establishment at Khasa in Amritsar.

Initial investigations suggest that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were used in both incidents. A scooter parked near the BSF headquarters caught fire during the first explosion. The second explosion was reported near the boundary wall of the Khasa cantonment area.

No casualties or major damage have been reported from these incidents. However, the nature of the blasts has not been fully ascertained yet, raising concerns among local authorities.

Police and Army personnel quickly arrived on the scene to investigate. Bomb disposal and forensic teams have been deployed to examine the sites and collect evidence.

Key events:

  • The first explosion occurred at 8 PM when a scooter caught fire.
  • A second explosion was heard at 10:50 PM near Khasa cantonment.
  • Police received information about the loud sound on Khasa road at 11:15 PM.

Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police Sohail Qasim Mir noted that a tin sheet mounted on the boundary wall had been damaged and had fallen due to the blast. The police are treating these incidents seriously, as they could be linked to ongoing security threats in the region.

The National Investigation Agency is en route to assist with the investigation into these explosions, which are believed by some officials to be part of larger security threats in Punjab.
