Vahan: New vehicle registration delays in Telangana due to portal transition

vahan — IN news

New vehicle buyers in Telangana are experiencing significant delays in receiving permanent registration numbers due to the shift to the VAHAN 4.0 portal.

As of early Tuesday, over 79,000 vehicles out of 89,392 applications have received permanent registrations online. This situation arises as the VAHAN portal was introduced in phases across Telangana to maintain system stability.

Vehicle dealers must install High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) after receiving permanent registration numbers. However, many new owners are left waiting.

Officials are issuing temporary registrations while permanent numbers are delayed. They expect normalcy in vehicle registration processes soon as they work to resolve technical glitches.

The online fancy number system has improved transparency and fairness for vehicle owners. As of midday Tuesday, there have been 3,223 fancy number bookings recorded.

Experts suggest that while the phased rollout of the VAHAN portal helps avoid disruptions for vehicle owners, it still presents challenges during this transition period.

The Transport Department is actively addressing these issues. Officials state they are working diligently to resolve the current problems affecting registrations.
