The brutal rape and murder of a four-year-old girl in Nasrapur, Pune district, has ignited significant public outrage. The incident occurred on May 2, 2026, when the girl was reported missing around 5:30 PM after last being seen playing outside her home.

Early Tuesday, police arrested the accused, 65-year-old Bhimrao Kamble. CCTV footage reportedly showed him luring the girl towards a cattle shed. Her body was later found approximately 700 meters from her home.

As of midday, protests erupted in the village. Villagers blocked the Pune-Bengaluru highway for over an hour, demanding justice for the victim. Police used mild force to clear the traffic blockades caused by these protests.

The girl’s body was taken to Sassoon General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities collected her internal organs for forensic analysis.

Officials have not confirmed whether any additional charges will be filed against Kamble. He has a history of sexual offences, including a molestation case in 1998.

In response to the public outcry, Maharashtra’s government announced plans to seek a fast-track court trial and the death penalty for the accused. Police spokesperson Sandeep Singh Gill stated, “Our teams immediately began reviewing CCTV footage and gathering local intelligence.”

The community is demanding accountability and justice for victims of sexual assault. This tragic incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety in rural areas.

The situation remains tense as residents continue to express their anger and grief over this horrific crime.
